Manipuri girl allegedly raped by landlord`s son in Delhi, North East students stage protest

New Delhi: A minor girl from Manipur has allegedly been raped by the son of her landlord in Delhi`s Munirka area on Saturday. The incident allegedly took place today morning when the girl was alone at home. The girl has registered a complaint with the police today morning and the accused has been arrested. Meanwhile, students from North East staged a protest against the incident outside Vasant Vihar police station. Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Barkha Singh called the incident shameful and said that the girl is out danger. She added that that it is unfortunate that instances of rape are taking place in a posh colony. The reported incident has taken place days after two girls from Manipur accused several people of beating and molesting them in Kotla Mubarakpur area. Another incident of 19-year-old Nido Taniam being allegedly beaten to death by shopkeepers in Lajpat Nagar area after an altercation triggered outrage.
