New Delhi: There is no corruption in the Delhi government and its administrative processes is transparent, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said Wednesday.
Speaking to women journalists, she dismissed charges by the Delhi Lokayukta that she had misused public funds for advertising her government`s achievements ahead of the 2008 assembly polls.
"Where is corruption, can you show me any case?" Dikshit asked.
"They tried to indict the government in the Commonwealth Games in the Shunglu committee report but did anything come out? Where is corruption?"
She denied the Delhi Lokayukta charge.
"Whatever the Lokayukta has done is beyond its legal boundaries and norms. Something happened in 2008, why they are remembering it now?"
She said if there was any misuse of public funds in an election campaign, it would have been pointed out by the Election Commission.
"Besides, if a political party or individual violates the law, the Election Commission stops them... I hope that explains the issue," she said.
Delhi Lokayukta indicted Dikshit for allegedly misusing public money for carrying out an advertisement campaign with a "political purpose" ahead of assembly elections in 2008.
The Lokayukta recommended to President Pranab Mukherjee that he should tell Dikshit to reimburse herself or through her party a sum of Rs.11 crore as half the cost of the advertisements in 2008, or any amount the president finds adequate.
The Delhi government has also been charged with misappropriation of funds during the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
"We are making administration more transparent, we are moving towards a system which is very open," she said.
"If there is delay in providing service, action is taken against the government official. Delhi is one of the best administered states in India."
