Lok Sabha elections: Repoll in 8 booths of Gurgaon remains peaceful

Chandigarh: The repoll in eight polling booths of Gurgaon Parliamentary constituency spread over four Assembly segments in district Mewat of Haryana on Thursday remained peaceful.

Polling was almost equal to the April 10 polls in the lone booth of Punhana Assembly segment, official sources said. Barring three booths of Nuh Assembly segment, the polling percentage has declined. In Nuh, the polling percentage has witnessed slight increase as compared to last polls, they said. In lone booth of Sohna, polling has gone down by almost seven per cent. Similarly, in two booths of Ferozpur Jhirka, the polling percentage remained around 65 per cent against over 95 per cent earlier. According to the figures of Election department, today in booth number 90 at village Thek, falling in Punhana Assembly, recorded 94.17 per cent turn out. In Ferozpur Jhirka Assembly segment, at booth number 34 of village Banarsi, 94.71 per cent turn out was recorded. At booth number 101 of village Neem Khera, 65.69 per cent electorate cast their vote. At booth number 166 of village Shahpur, 66.07 per cent votes were cast. In Nuh assembly segment, at booth number 44 of village Rahna, 96.46 per cent voters cast their votes whereas at booth number 46 of village Tapkan, 97.31 per cent polling was recorded. At booth number 103 of village Majra Bharganva Sundaka, 96.23 per cent electorate cast their votes while in Sohna Assembly segment, at booth number 126 of village Bawla, 89.93 per cent voting was recorded. The EC had ordered repoll on eight polling stations spread over four Assembly segments in Gurgaon Parliamentary constituency. The Aam Aadmi Party had recently asked the EC to conduct repolling in a few booths of the Gurgaon Parliamentary constituency and alleged rigging in a few booths. In a letter to CEC V S Sampath, AAP senior leader Yogendra Yadav, who fought as party candidate from Gurgaon Lok Sabha seat, had submitted a "scientific analysis" of the polling station-wise turnout data which established that there was a cluster of booths "that recorded abnormally high turnout, upwards of 90 per cent or even 95 per cent..." AAP had complained about this abnormally high turnout on April 10 polling.
