PIL seeking Narendra Modi`s `Sadbhavna` fasts expenses withdrawn

Ahmedabad: A PIL seeking details of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi`s `Sadbhavna` fasts expenditure, was on Friday withdrawn from the state high court. The petitioner K M Paul had moved the PIL in Gujarat High Court yesterday, seeking details of the expenditure incurred by the state government on Modi`s `Sadbhavna` fasts in 2011.
However, the petitioner sought the permission of two-judge bench of chief justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya and justice J B Pardiwala to withdraw the petition on Friday. "I seek permission to withdraw this public interest litigation," the petitioner told the court. Following that the bench of Gujarat High Court has disposed off the petition had been withdrawn. The petition claimed that the fasts were politically motivated and the state machinery was misused. On September 17 to 19 in the year 2011, Modi had sat on Sadbhavna fasts as a part of his government`s policy "to bring harmony in the society". In 2011, two petitions were filed on the same issue, which were rejected later.
