Delhi HC orders medical board for examining Chautala`s health

The trial court had sentenced Chautala, his son Ajay Chautala and eight others to 10 years in jail while one convict was sentenced to five years and 45 others were handed out four-year jail terms.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday ordered constitution of a medical board to examine health condition of jailed former Haryana chief minister OP Chautala, who has been held guilty of illegally recruiting 3,206 junior basic trained teachers in Haryana in 2000. A trial court had sentenced Chautala, his son Ajay Chautala and eight others to 10 years in jail, while one convict was sentenced to five years and 45 others were handed out four-year jail terms. The senior Chautala, who was held as the "main conspirator" of the scam by the court, was found guilty of cheating, forgery, using fake documents as genuine and conspiracy under IPC and of abusing his official position under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).
