Puducherry: With mounting safety concerns in many states over Maggi noodles, Puducherry government on Thursday said samples have been sent for lab tests and follow up action would be taken, based on the results.

"Samples of Maggi noodles have been sent for tests here and to Delhi. The results of the lab tests is expected to be available by evening today and depending on the findings the government would take follow up action," Chief Minister N Rangasamy told reporters here.

The samples of Maggi noodles are being subjected to laboratory examination in several states following detection of monosodium glutamate and lead in excess of the prescribed limit in the popular snack.
Nestle India has claimed it has got samples tested in an external laboratory as well as in-house and that the product was found "safe to eat".
