Kolkata: With claims and counter-claims and new leads emerging in the investigation, Siddharth Das, who was reported to be Indrani Mukerjea's first husband on Tuesday said that she could have murdered her daughter Sheena Bora.
"What is coming in the news is something I think she (Indrani Mukerjea) can do, for money," Das said.
While speaking exclusively to Zee Media, Das, who currently resides in Kolkata's Dum Dum area, said that he first met Indrani, accused in Sheena murder case, in Guwahati and they both started seeing each other. However, he completely rejected reports of marrying Indrani in 80's.
Das maintained that he stayed at Indrani's residence along with her parents and they both had two babies - Sheena and Mikhail - born in 1987 and 1988 respectively.
Further disclosing more information about Indrani's past, Das said that in 1989 she suddenly disappeared after telling him that she is going to Shillong to complete some work. However, she never returned.
Thereafter, Das went to Shillong to search for her, but couldn't find Indrani. However, more shockingly, when he returned to Guwahati, he was denied entry the house by Indrani's parents.
Das then shifted to Kolkata and started a new life.
He now resides in Dum Dum area with his wife and 16-year-old son.
Indrani, husband of former STAR India CEO Peter Mukerjea, is accused of killing Sheena in a moving car with the help of her ex-husband, Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai en route from Bandra in Mumbai to a forested region of Raigad, some 95 from Mumbai, on April 24, 2012.
Sheena's body was later allegedly doused with petrol, set on fire and buried in the area.
Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria told media persons last week that former husband of co-accused Indrani, Sanjeev Khanna has cracked and confessed to his role in the crime.
Earlier Maria had maintained that Sheena was murdered on April 24, 2012. Her body was found on May 23 that year after Indrani's driver Shyam Rai revealed the murder site to police.
Indrani on Monday faced fresh charges of poisoning and attempting to murder her son Mikhail on the day her daughter Sheena was killed more than three years ago as police suspect involvement of people outside the state in the sensational crime.
