Bangalore: Bangalore Police Commissioner MN Reddi on Monday said that security will be tightened in the city, both in general and in view of the New Year celebrations, adding that the situation was under control.

Reddi's statements came after a blast, triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), hit Bangalore on Sunday evening, leading to the death of a woman, with three others injured.

"The situation is absolutely under control. I appeal to people to not pay heed to any rumours. The investigation is going on and we are hoping that our teams will come out with success. We will enhance and strengthen security in central Bangalore, both in general and in view of the New Year. Multiple teams have been sent to multiple locations," said Reddi.

Meanwhile, security has also been beefed up in New Delhi following the incident.
