Internet blocked temporarily due to Sikh-police clash in Jammu

In wake of the ongoing clashes between the Sikh community and the state police, the Jammu administration has shut down internet services in the area.

Jammu: In wake of the ongoing clashes between the Sikh community and the state police, the Jammu administration has shut down internet services in the area.

The move comes after a group of Sikhs on Thursday blocked roads while denouncing the removal of a poster carrying picture of militant Sikh leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. Police sources said security forces had to open fire to quell a violent mob of Sikh protesters at Gadigarh area of the city.

Meanwhile, protesters have blocked the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway over the clash, with the unrest spreading to Srinagar.
