Jammu-Srinagar highway closed for vehicular traffic due to snowfall

Jammu: The 300-km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the only surface link between Kashmir and rest of the country, was closed for vehicular traffic for second consecutive day today, due to snowfall and slippery conditions. Fresh vehicular traffic was not allowed from both the capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar due to slippery road conditions at Patnitop, Jawahar tunnel and various places along the highway, SSP Traffic National Highway, Haseeb Mughal said. Only stranded vehicles are being cleared today, he said.

Kishtwar-bound vehicles will also not be allowed as the road was slippery at Patnitop, he added.
