Minor girl gang-raped in Reasi district

Jammu: A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by four persons at Katra in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Saturday.

Two of the accused have been arrested in the case in which a 17-year-old student of Std VIII was allegedly kidnapped and raped by four persons in the Nomian area of the holy town on Thursday evening, a police officer said here. Police said that the parents of the girl lodged a complaint against four persons, identified as Karan Chand, Ashwani Kumar, Varinder Singh and Parkash Chand, on the evening of February 20. Of these, Karan Chand and Parkash Chand were arrested today, police added. According to the complaint, the accused kidnapped the girl when she was returning home from school and raped her after taking her to a secluded spot. They had fled the spot after committing the offence, leaving the victim in an unconscious state, police said. A case has been registered and a medical test conducted on the girl, police said, adding that a search is on to nab the remaining accused.
