Bangalore: Not just the ruling BJP, the scourge of discord among party members has spread to ex-CM BS Yedyurappa`s newly-formed— Karnataka Janata Party (KJP)— as well, as leaders from Dakshin Kannada threatened to resign from the party recently. The rift appeared after district-in-charge, V Dhananjay Kumar, sent his own list of candidates to the party headquarters. The local leaders have been up in arms ever since, reports stated. A delegation of unit presidents of the party, under Ravindra Shetty, failed to get an appointment from Yeddyurappa over the matter, they instead had to speak with Dhananjay Kumar over the issue. The delegation, reports said, was highly dissatisfied with Kumar`s replies. The discontent came to fore during a meeting at Mangalore earlier this week where party workers were up in arms against the state unit thrusting candidates upon them, against their choice. “The list which the district unit of KJP had sent to the state unit has been completely neglected. Instead, those who personally met Dhananjay Kumar have been fielded. “We sent the list after discussing the names with party workers. But when the list came from Bengaluru it was completely changed, except for two names. The names which were never discussed in block committees appeared in the list,” a senior KJP was quoted by a newspaper as saying. Key members who blamed Kumar for the confusion threatened to quit if changes were not effected in the list of candidates. As per reports, Mariamma Thomas, member of the state executive committee, has opted out of the race in Mangalore city (South) over the confusion in selection of candidates in Dakshina Kannada district.
