Bengaluru: Expressing commiseration, nurses in Karnataka held a candlelight vigil in remembrance of Jacintha Saldanha, who was found dead in her staff accommodation near London's King Edward VII hospital after unwittingly disclosing details of Duchess of Cambridge’s morning sickness to radio presenters.
Nurses in Bangalore on Thursday were seen performing prayers and walking on streets in order to pay tribute to Jacintha.
Candles were lit by the locals and nurses who marched in a candlelight procession.
Talking to the media, a local Ravi said that the candlelight vigil has been organised in order to pray for the departed soul of Jacintha.
“It is very unfortunate for a nurse, who was in a peak of her career had to die in a very bad way from the royal prank played by some foolish people, who never thought, this kind of incident can happen just in the case of the King and the Queen, they called and played a prank.
“This nurse was traumatised so much that she could not face anybody and committed a suicide. We pray for her soul to rest in peace and her family to come out of the incident,” said Ravi.
Urging UK to release body of late Indian origin Jacintha Saldanha to her family for final rights, nurses also demanded a thorough inquiry to rule out fowl play following the death of the royal nurse.
"We are here to pray for nurse Jacintha's family, so my kind request is that proper investigation has to be done and it is a major issue, we cannot leave this issue," said Vijaylaxmi, a nurse.

The hoax, in which the radio hosts - posing as Britain's Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles despite Australian accents - successfully inquired after Kate''s medical condition, has made worldwide headlines.
