The estranged wife of former Kerala Minister K B Ganesh Kumar today moved a court here urging that he be booked under the anti-domestic violence act and seeking restraining orders against him.

Thiruvanathapuram: The estranged wife of former Kerala Minister K B Ganesh Kumar today moved a court here urging that he be booked under the anti-domestic violence act and seeking restraining orders against him. In her petition before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Yamini sought that Kunar be booked under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act and also wanted the court to restrain him from entering the house at Vazhuthakadu here where she was staying with her children. She also sought protection. The court in its interim order directed Kumar not to take steps to dispose of the house and any objects there and posted the case for further hearing to tomorrow. As per law, police have no right to register case against a person under the Domestic Violance Act and it can be done only with a direction of Court. Police had already registered an FIR against Kumar under provisions of 498 (A) IPC in the CJM on the basis of a complaint filed by Yaimini. Yamini on her complaint accused her husband of torturing her for the past 16 years. The Crime Branch-team led by Superintendent of Police Uma Behra was probing the case. The domestic quarrel of actor-politician Kumar came into public domain on April 1 when he filed a divorce petition accusing his wife of blackmailing and manhandling him. Rejecting Kumar`s charges, Yamini said it was she who was the victim of domestic violence and registered a complaint with the police, following which Kumar quit the Ministry. Police had filed FIRs before the Chief Judicial Magistrate here based on complaints of both Kumar and Yamini. PTI
