Thiruvananthapuram: Britain`s Prince Charles, who is in India along with his wife Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles, will celebrate his 65th birthday on Thursday in the `God`s own country`.
Prince Charles arrived in Kochi on November 11 for a four-day visit to the state as part of a nine-day visit to the country.
Since the birthday of Britain`s Prince Charles falls during his maiden visit to the state, this calls for a special celebration.
Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is now struggling to select a birthday gift for Prince Charles.
Chandy and his family will meet Prince Charles from 10.30 am to 11 am tomorrow.
The royal couple is staying at the famed popular tourist destination at Kumarakom, where Chandy spent his childhood as his mother hailed from the place.
Chandy has been advised that the gift should be something which Prince Charles should treasure and which would occupy a pride of place in his palace.
After meeting Chandy, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will leave for Colombo, from Kochi.
The Kumarakom Lake Resort has made elaborate arrangements for the couple.
Kerala Police have made elaborate security arrangements and close to 400 police officials have taken over the security of the resort.
