Congress attacks UP, MP govts over killings of journalists

New Delhi: Congress today attacked the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh over the killings of journalists saying it was concerned over the way freedom of the press was being suppressed.

"We are quite concerned over such incidents, over the way the freedom of the press is being suppressed by killing journalists...Such incidents are happening in BJP states and non-Congress ruled states," Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad told reporters.

He said if the media takes up the issue by taking march or submitting any petition to the President, Congress will back it fully.
