Bhopal: People in rural areas of the country might still be facing difficulties in getting an identity card but a man in Madhya Pradesh has managed to get a government ID for his dog!

Yes, Azam Khan got an Aadhaar card made for his dog 'Tommy Singh' in the state's Bhind district, reports a leading English daily.

The Aadhaar card carries the photo of the dog and mentions its name as Tommy Singh, son of Sheru Singh. The dog's date of birth has been mentioned as November 26, 2009.

Local police have arrested Khan and are questioning him to find out if he arranged Aadhaar cards for other animals or unauthorised people.

Khan actually works as a supervisor at an Aadhaar enrollment agency in Umri and this explains how he managed to get an Aadhaar card for his dog.

The police action followed after complaints that Khan’s agency was making cards for dogs and other animals.

The police have filed a case of forgery against Khan.
