Youth gets seven years in jail for rape

Khandwa: A local court has awarded seven years` rigorous imprisonment to a man for raping a girl by promising to marry her.

District and Sessions Judge Abhinandan Jain yesterday held Kamal (22) of rape. Kamal took the girl, a resident of Meerikheda village, to Akola in Maharashtra on May 22, 2012 saying that he would marry her. He kept her confined in the town for nearly four months but didn`t fulfil his promise. The girl then managed to escape and approach the police. PTI
