Thane: Three persons were killed on the spot when their autorickshaw was knocked down by a tempo at the busy Vasant Vihar circle in Thane city this morning, police said.
The deceased included two women passengers.
The mishap occurred at around 10 AM when a speeding tempo hit the autorickshaw at a turning point in Vasant Vihar area of Thane.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the head of one of the woman was chopped off, police said.
While the tempo driver fled soon after the accident, his vehicle has been seized.
The autorickshaw driver sustained injuries in the mishap and has been rushed to hospital, police added.
