The intense cold conditions in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh relented with minimum temperatures increasing by up to four notches above normal and the region getting respite from foggy weather.

Chandigarh: The intense cold conditions in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh relented on Monday with minimum temperatures increasing by up to four notches above normal and the region getting respite from foggy weather.

The minimum temperatures hovered between one to four degrees Celsius above normal in the region in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, the MeT office said here.
Besides, the foggy conditions eased out in the region where a bright sun greeted the people this morning.

In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Amritsar and Narnual were coldest places with an identical low of 3.6 degrees Celsius, one notch each above normal.

While Hisar settled at a low of 6.5 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal, the minimum temperature at Chandigarh was 6.9 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal.

Among other places, Ludhiana had a low of eight degrees Celsius followed by 9.7 degrees Celsius at Ludhiana, three notches above normal, and 9.1 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal.
Patiala in Punjab settled at a low of 7.2 degrees C.
The MeT forecast rise in minimum temperatures in the region during the next 24 hours.
