Congress will continue to protest against NDA govt`s `anti-poor` Rail Budget: Mukesh Sharma

New Delhi: Even after Delhi Police lodged an FIR against him, the state party unit chief Mukesh Sharma on Tuesday said that the party will continue to protest against the NDA government`s poor Rail Budget. “Congress will continue with its protest, this is not going to suppress our voice,” Mukesh Sharma told reporters here. Soon after Sadananda Gowda presented the Railway Budget 2014 in Lok Sabha today, Sharma including 50-60 party workers staged protest in front of the residence of Gowda in the national capital. During the protest, Sharma pulled down Gowda`s nameplate outside and stood on it to express his anger. Following the incident, Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely criticised the above, saying it was `wrong`, adding that he had "tried to stop the protesters from doing it", police have, however, registered a case in this regard and Sharma and others may face arrest. Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against Congress leader Mukesh Sharma for removing Sadanand Gowda`s nameplate, stepping on it in protest of what the party has called an `anti-poor` budget. Delhi Police also registered FIR against Arvinder Singh Lovely and 50-60 party workers under sections which include rioting. The protest went out of control when the Congress workers saw Gowda in his car as he returned home after presenting the rail budget in Parliament. Seeing Gowda inside the car, the protesters immediately surrounded the vehicle and refused to let him enter his residence for a few minutes. But the security personnel at the spot pushed them away to make way for the minister`s car to enter the premises. Police had to erect barricades around Gowda`s residence to prevent protesters from entering it.
