Austin:The new Formula one circuit being built here has got the FIA approval for the upcoming United States Grand Prix to be held Nov 18.
The Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Texas was given the green signal after its final scheduled pre-race inspection by the international automobile federation (FIA) Tuesday. FIA Race Director Charlie Whiting said he was happy with the construction progress and the overall quality of the circuit. "The track design is fantastic, the quality of the workmanship is excellent and I have no concerns at all," said Whiting on the official Formula One website. "This will be a very unique Grand Prix, a lot of types of corners that will provide a lot of overtaking opportunities." Whiting`s approval means that COTA will get the `Grade 1` FIA status it needs to stage a Formula One race. This will be first Formula One race on American soil since 2007 at Indianapolis. A final check would be done on the Monday prior to the race. IANS
