BSF kills Pak national in Punjab, finds heroin

Chandigarh: The Border Security Force (BSF) claimed to have gunned down a Pakistani and seized 13 kg of heroin, fake currency and some weapons along Punjab's border with Pakistan Thursday morning.

The incident took place in Khem Karan sector. The identity of the intruder is being established, BSF officials said.

The officials said the recovered heroin was worth Rs.65 crore in the international market. The consignment was packed in 13 packets of one kg each.

BSF also found fake currency worth Rs.500,000 near the border. Other recoveries included a pistol and some ammunition.

Wonderful. This is what is required to be done. There is no fun in arresting a smugglerwho are plain criminal and never change. Such an action will rather send a more serious signal. Also in cases of hardcore criminals the govt. should considerofficial encounters like the US admn. has done in the past.. Normally no body dares to stand witness against a mafia or hardcore criminal. On top of that our police have aleays failed to give protection for a long time to such witnesses and as such it will be definitelty better if such type of criminals are officially encountered. Of course to check police officials to misuse such encounter, there should be mandatory rule that officers involved in fake encounter will be given death penalty.
