Karmakar was a little lucky as he was given a quota place to compete at London Olympics. Karmakar’s rise to the top is a phenomenal story as he did not have his own gun till recently. He has faced problems regarding funds which hampered his preparations. But he kept fighting hard against all odds and earned a place for himself to compete at the highest level. Karmakar, who won a silver medal at the 2010 World Cup in Sydney, aims to go for the gold in London. He has recently undergone training under renowned coach Heinz Reinkemeier (also coach of Abhinav Bindra).
