Not demolishing Osama compound: Pak military

A British media report earlier claimed that plans had been drawn up to dismantle the Abbottabad compound.

Islamabad: The Pakistani military on Tuesday said it was not planning to demolish the compound where Osama bin Laden was killed by special US forces last year, denying a British media report that plans had been drawn up to dismantle the Abbottabad compound.

A military spokesman said remarks in the media attributed to Inter-Services Public Relations chief Maj Gen Athar Abbas regarding the demolition of bin Laden`s compound were "totally baseless".

The British daily The Sun had on Sunday quoted Abbas and Interior Minister Rehman Malik as saying that bin Laden`s compound would be demolished.
However, the military spokesman said Abbas "never spoke to any reporter of The Sun".
