Islamabad: The Pakistani military on Tuesday said it was not planning to demolish the compound where Osama bin Laden was killed by special US forces last year, denying a British media report that plans had been drawn up to dismantle the Abbottabad compound.
A military spokesman said remarks in the media attributed to Inter-Services Public Relations chief Maj Gen Athar Abbas regarding the demolition of bin Laden's compound were "totally baseless".
The British daily The Sun had on Sunday quoted Abbas and Interior Minister Rehman Malik as saying that bin Laden's compound would be demolished.
However, the military spokesman said Abbas "never spoke to any reporter of The Sun".
