Under-construction house collapses in UP, 13 killed

Chandauli: Thirteen people were killed and one other injured when an unfinished house collapsed in Dulhipur locality in Mughalsarai area here, police said on Sunday.

Five men, six women and two children have died after the house on which construction work was going on collapsed last night, they said.

The house belongs to one Kamaruddin, they said.

Among the deceased, four are labourers and rest are either relatives or family members of Kamaruddin, Superintendent of Police (SP) Muniraj said.

Police and NDRF team rushed to the spot, he said, adding that rescue operation is underway and the injured have been rushed to a hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.

A compensation of Rs 30,000 will be given to the family members of the deceased, District Magistrate N K Singh said.
