Muzaffarnagar: In a suspected case of honour killing, a probe has been ordered against eight members of a family of a girl who was allegedly killed after she refused to remarry, police said Friday.
The incident occurred in October when one Sangita was found hanging at her parents` house, they said, adding that the complaint was filed by Sangita`s brother-in-law.
Sangita got married on August 11, 2008 to Satbir. She returned to her parents house a few months back after her husband was arrested in connection with a case, police said, adding that her family members forced her to marry someone else but she refused.
Eight people including the Sangita`s father Puran Singh were booked yesterday in connection with her death, they said.
However, the family members of the girl call it a case of suicide.
