Lucknow: In a show of support to their Muslim friends lodged in a prison in Uttar Pradesh, a group of Hindu inmates has decided to observe roza during the holy month of Ramzan.

During Ramzan, Muslims across the globe fast from dawn to dusk.

More than 60 Hindu inmates at a district jail are keeping roza, which commenced on Tuesday, along with 1,150 Muslim inmates, the news18.com reported.

“On the first day of Ramzan, 65 Hindu inmates kept fast with 1,150 Muslim inmates,” the report quoted jailor Satish Tripathi as saying.

“Special arrangements have been made for the inmates to perform prayers and enjoy their pre-dawn 'sehri' meal and evening meals known as 'iftars',” the report said.

Fruits, milk and various other snacks are being made available to them.
