Indore-Patna Express derailment: Helpline numbers

Kanpur: At least 14 coaches of the Indore-Patna Express train derailed in the wee hours of Sunday near Pukhrayan area in Kanpur, leaving at least 20 people dead and several injured.

The incident took place at around 3 am near Pukhrayan, about 100 kms from here.

According to initial reports, at least 20 people have died and several other passengers have sustained serious injuries in the mishap. 

''At least 20 bodies have been recovered so far from spot after Patna-Indore express derailed near Pukharayan,'' IG Kanpur, Zakir Ahmed, told ANI.

According to the available information, 14 coaches of Patna-Indore Express, which derailed this morning are: seating-cum-luggage rake, GS, GS, A1, B1, B2, B3, BE, S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has directed the DGP to personally monitor the relief operations after 14 coaches of Patna-Indore Express derailed near Kanpur.

Northern Central Railways spokesperson Vijay Kumar said that doctors and senior railway officials have reached the spot. The cause of the derailment was not known immediately.
