Prisoner escapes from police custody
Mahendra Saini had been referred to Meerut Medical College Hospital by the district hospital for treatment of a suspected case of cancer.

Bijnor: A prisoner, undergoing life imprisonment in district jail here in a murder and dacoity case fled from police custody from a hospital, police said on Sunday.
Mahendra Saini had been referred to Meerut Medical College Hospital by the district hospital here for treatment of a suspected case of cancer. He escaped from the hospital yesterday, they said.
He was given life sentence in a dacoity and murder case last week and was kept in Bijnor jail.
The three policemen -- Ravi Kumar, Arvind Rathore and Pradeep Kumar -- accompanying Saini have been arrested, police said.
The police have launched a manhunt to nab the prisoner.
