UP Mining Minister deducts one-day salary of 150 employees

Lucknow: After finding 150 employees absent from their duties at Mining directorate here, Uttar Pradesh Mining Minister Gyatri Prasad Prajapati on Wednesday ordered to deduct their one-day salary.

The minister, who reached the directorate at 10:15 AM found that out of total 200 employees, 150 were absent from their duties.

"The reporting time of employees is 9:30 AM and I reached there at 10:15 AM but found that 150 of them were absent. I have ordered deduction of their one-day salary besides seeking explanation from them," Prajapati said.

The minister`s action came after he received a number of complaints in this regard.

"I have been getting complaints that the employees at Mining directorate are not reaching office on time due to which work is getting affected there. After issuing a number of warnings, when they did not mend their ways and complaints continued to pour in, I had to make the surprise inspection," the minister said.

He also found anomalies in mining permission given in Allahabad region and suspended a number of officers including mining officer for the anomalies.

"I have ordered the suspension of a number of officials in Allahabad region for anomalies in giving mining permissions. The details of the officers would be released to media later," he said adding that an inquiry has been ordered into the matter.
