Vehicles, shops torched in group clash in UP

Several vehicles and shops were today torched during a group clash following a dispute over opening a bank account in Saurikh town, police said.

The clash took place after a youth, identified as Alam, slapped the branch manager of Bank of India, Praveen Yadav, following dispute over opening of an account, they said.
Later, people from the opposite side reached the spot, leading to a clash between them.

Both sides indulged in brick batting and the violent mob also torched a truck, a loader, two cars and some shops, police said.

However, the situation was brought under control only after the police officials rushed to the spot and disperse the protesters.

Later, four persons have been arrested in this connection, police added.
