Meerut: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have announced that they will form squads to provide protection to Hindu girls during the upcoming festival of colours, Holi.

As per a report in the Times of India, the saffron outfits will form teams of 10-15 youngsters to prevent any attempts of eve-teasing of Hindu girls. The teams will also keep an eye on attempts of “love jihad”.

The newspaper quotes a VHP functionary as saying that these teams will be active in at least 400 villages in Meerut district.

The report quotes Gopal Sharma, city secretary of VHP, as saying that some “anti-social elements” use the festival of Holi to tease girls from our community.

Sharma said that the teams will stand in places where Holi is being celebrated, adding that “anti-social elements” will think twice before harming the women when they see Bajrang Dal men standing there.
