U`khand: Delhi MLAs to give Rs10 lakh, month`s salary

Delhi legislators would give Rs10 lakh each from their local development fund and one month`s salary as aid to flood-ravaged Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced Monday.

New Delhi: Delhi legislators would give Rs10 lakh each from their local development fund and one month`s salary as aid to flood-ravaged Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced Monday. Talking to reporters after a cabinet meeting, Dikshit said, "To provide help to flood-affected victims in Uttarakhand, we have decided that MLAs (legislators) would contribute their one month`s salary and Rs.10 lakh from their respective MLALAD (Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development) Fund to the Chief Minister`s Relief Fund.`
She also urged Delhi government employees to contribute their one day salary in for the cause. At the cabinet meeting, it was also decided that a round-the-clock helpline number (1077) will be made functional at the divisional commissioner`s office here from Monday to provide help to the families whose members are stranded in Uttarakhand. The cabinet further decided to depute a team of officers of Delhi government to Dehradun in order to keep close contact with the Uttarakhand government and their control room. IANS
