Saradha chit fund scam: CBI raids 30 locations in Bengal, Odisha

Zee Media Bureau Kolkata: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the CBI for the investigation of the `Chit Fund scam` cases on Thursday conducted searches in 10 locations in West Bengal and 20 locations in Odisha. The searches were conducted at different office as well as residential premises belonging to various accused and suspects and the companies against whom CBI has registered cases recently. The CBI, on the directions of the Supreme Court, recently began its probe in the scam in which it has registered three cases in West Bengal and over 42 cases have been registered in Odisha. The CBI also today booked sitting Biju Janata Dal member of Parliament Ram Chandra Hansda and two former members of the Orissa state assembly in the Saradha chit fund scam case. According to report, CBI officials recovered Rs 28 lakh and documents were recovered from the MP’s house.
