AirAsia plane wreckage: Singapore Navy vessels alter course

Singapore: Three vessels of Singapore Navy have change their original search area for the wreckage of an AirAsia plane and are expected to reach their new location on Wednesday morning, a media report said.

On Tuesday, wreckage of the missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 was located some 160 km southwest of the Pangkalan Bun town in Indonesia`s Central Kalimantan province.

The three vessels - RSS Supreme, RSS Valour, and RSS Persistence - had planned to reach the search zone, closer to the island of Beilitung, to help with the search operation, Xinhua reported citing Singapore`s Lianhe Zaobao daily. 

Another vessel - the MV Swift Rescue - departed on Tuesday night. The submarine support and rescue vessel is equipped with sensors and sonars to detect signals from the plane`s black box.

Singapore has so far sent two C-130 aircraft and four vessels to join the search operations.
