The couple, who had been married for six months, worked as nurses with the Health Ministry in Bahrain.

Dubai: Bahrain police have launched an investigation into allegations that an Indian man stabbed his wife to death at her sister`s residence before killing himself, according to a media report.
30-year-old Smijo Poulose allegedly stabbed his wife Sanitha Chandy George, 27, to death on Monday before slitting his own throat, the Gulf Daily News reported. The couple, who had been married for six months, worked as nurses with the Health Ministry in Bahrain. Sources quoted by the newspaper said that Sanitha had temporarily moved in with her sister after suffering a miscarriage. On Monday, an enraged Poulose entered this flat and launched his attack on Sanitha before turning the knife on himself, the report added. The daughters of the victim`s sister, aged three and six, were in the house and witnessed the ghastly attack. They told investigators they saw Poulose entering the flat with a knife and stabbing their aunt. He also allegedly attacked Sanitha`s brother-in-law when the latter tried to stop him. An Indian community leader, who visited the flat, described the scene as `gruesome`. According to the report, Indian Embassy officials were present during the police questioning of a relative of the family. Bahrain`s Interior Ministry has confirmed on its Twitter account that a couple had been stabbed but gave no other details. PTI
