Another security breach after Obama shared lift with armed man with criminal record

Days after an armed intruder jumped over a fence and trespassed into the White House, another security lapse has come into light.

Washington: Days after an armed intruder jumped over a fence and trespassed into the White House, another security lapse has come into light.

The lapse took place on September 16 when an armed contractor who has assault convictions against him rode in a lift with US President Barack Obama during his visit to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, according to a BBC news report.

Only after the man was questioned for taking the video of Obama in the lift, it was revealed that he was carrying a weapon.

According to the protocol, only Secret Service members have the permission to carry weapons in the presence of the president.

Shortly after the incident, the man was sacked by his supervisor.

The shocking breach in Obama's security was revealed a day after Director of US Secret Service, Julia Pierson, took responsibility of the trespass at the White House.

42 years old Omar Gonzalez had jumped over the White House's fence and entered the East Room through an unlocked door before he was finally tackled.
