Mumbai: Ahead of the tough Test series against formidable Australia, BCCI`s general manager for Game Development, Prof Ratnakar Shetty, said today that the players are geared up to measure up to the challenge.
"Our boys are currently practising at NCA. Everybody is geared up to do well in this series. I am sure that the team has the potential and the players who can turn around Indian cricket and (it) will be better days for Indian cricket," Shetty told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of an under-16 inter-schools event here.
India take on Australia in a four-Test series from February 22 to March 26, with the opening match scheduled to be held at Chennai from Friday.
Asked about senior batsman Sachin Tendulkar (194 Tests) inching closer to playing 200 Tests, Shetty said that the senior batsman is not bothered about milestones.
"As far as Sachin Tendulkar is concerned, it is only you and I who discuss milestones. The amount of effort that he puts in even after 24 years of international cricket, whether he is playing for Mumbai or for India, the way he prepares and the way he practises is something which is more important.
"Even today the amount of time he spends in the nets will put even youngsters to shame. That is something which is more important. We all look forward to a successful series from him."
