London: England pace bowler James Anderson may reportedly be rested for the fifth and the final Ashes Test at The Oval he has looked jaded during the last two Tests at Old Trafford and the Emirates ICG, Durham.
According to Metro.co.uk, even as England plans ahead for return series in Australia starting in November, coach Andy Flower and his staff have the luxury of rotating players and managing their workloads after wrapping up the current series in Durham on Monday.
The report further said that Anderson`s conditions in the third and the fourth Tests was in sharp contrast to the start of the series, when he took ten wickets in the first Test at Trent Bridge to inspire his side to a 14-run win, and also bowled well in the second Test at Lord`s despite taking just three wickets.
However, the report also said that Anderson returned his worst figures for a Test innings in Manchester and went wicket-less during Australia`s second innings at Durham, leading England to turn to Stuart Broad and Tim Bresnan to bowl them to victory.
Admitting that Anderson has not had a real impact in the last two Tests, Flower however, said that it is not entirely surprising for him as he believed that it would have been almost impossible for Anderson to sustain the standards and energy levels he showed in those first two Tests.
Flower further said that they do not have to rush any decisions on selection for the fifth Test.
Meanwhile, the report further said that Flower rested Anderson last summer for the third Test against the West Indies and is keen to give fit-again Surrey seamer Chris Tremlett a run-out before the winter.
