Venezuela mends tie with Paraguay, reopens embassy

Venezuela has reopened its embassy in the Paraguayan capital 18 months after breaking off relations to protest the removal of Paraguay`s leader.

Asuncion(Paraguay): Venezuela has reopened its embassy in the Paraguayan capital 18 months after breaking off relations to protest the removal of Paraguay`s leader. The Venezuelan Embassy in Asuncion was closed in July 2012 after Paraguay`s congress impeached and ousted President Fernando Lugo, who was an ally of the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. The embassy reopened yesterday. Venezuelan Ambassador Afredo Murga says Paraguay`s agricultural commodities are vital to Venezuela. He says the economies of both South American countries can continue to complement each other. Venezuela has the world`s biggest oil reserves. Paraguay doesn`t produce oil and is expected to benefit from improved links with the region`s biggest oil exporter.
