Davis Cup awards to be presented

The All India Tennis Association (AITA) will be honouring veteran Ramanathan Krishnan and his son Ramesh, Anand Amritraj and Mahesh Bhupathi with the ITF Davis Cup Commitment award on Saturday during the Asia/Oceania Group I play-off tie between India and Indonesia.

Announcing this at a media conference on Wednesday, Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association secretary C.S. Sunder Raju said AITA lifetime president Yashwant Sinha will be doing the honours just before the commencement of the doubles tie.
The awards are presented to players who have taken part in at least 20 Davis Cup ties. Raju said that some 1,000 seats have been reserved in the 3,000-seater stadium for children in a bid to encourage the youngsters to take to tennis. IANS
