Dutch defender Alexander Buttner said Friday that he is determined his performances for new club Dynamo Moscow will finally win him a place on the national side.
Buttner recently joined the Russian club from English giants Manchester United where former Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal has taken over as manager.
"I had no chance of progressing in Manchester United after Louis van Gaal took over the club," the 25-year-old defender told the Soviet Sport daily.
Buttner had previously criticised van Gaal for "unfairly ignoring" him for the World Cup in which the Netherlands finished third.
"He ignored me completely when he was the Dutch national manager though I believe I deserved a call into the squad," said Buttner.
"And I`m confident he will give me no chance in Manchester. They (Manchester United) already have Patrice Evra on my position and have recently bought Luke Shaw.
"But I think I`m too good to be just a bench warmer. That`s why I decided to leave Manchester. I had plenty of proposals but decided to chose Dynamo.
"It`s a terrific team directed by an excellent coach. And they`re playing the style which I like most of all."
Buttner, who started his professional career in Dutch top flight side Vitesse before his move to Manchester in 2012, said that money wasn`t the main reason for his transfer to Dynamo.
"I had an excellent contract with Manchester United and made a lot of money there. All I want now is to play football and to take pleasure in doing that.
"Now I`m completely focused on my career in Dynamo and hope to perform at my best here to attract the attention of the new Dutch national manager Guus Hiddink."
