Uttarakhand chopper crash: Bodies of all 20 victims found, says NDMA

The bodies of all the people who died in IAF chopper crash in flood-ravaged Uttarakhand is said to have been recovered, as per reports on Wednesday.

Dehradun: The bodies of all the people who died in IAF chopper crash in flood-ravaged Uttarakhand is said to have been recovered, as per reports on Wednesday. According to news reports, National Disaster Management Authority`s vice-chairman M Shashidhar Reddy confirmed that the bodies of all the victims have been found. Mi-17 V-5 helicopter was on a rescue mission. It had taken off from Gauchar and was heading to Gaurikund when it crashed. Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne visited Gaurikund to pay his respects to those who died. The reason of the crash has yet not been ascertained. Meanwhile, the cockpit voice recorder of the Mi-17 V5 has been found The Indian Air Force launched a search operation yesterday after the news of the crash came in. Uttarakhand has been hit by massive floods and rains leaving behind a trail of devastation and destruction which has been unprecedented. Rescue mission on a large scale has been launched in the state and hundreds have been brought to safety so far. However, thousand are still stranded and waiting for help to come their way.
