FTII row: Gajendra Chauhan chosen over Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth for chairmanship

The turmoil over the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the Chairman of Film And Television Institute, continues.

New Delhi: The turmoil over the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the Chairman of Film And Television Institute, continues.

Reports say that eminent personalities like Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth were overlooked and instead Chauhan was appointed.

Speaking to ANI MoS I & B, Rajyavardhan Rathore said that the governing council should be run by people who can devote time to develop the institute.

The film fraternity has joined hands with FTII students in the agitation, and the student council along with some film personalities met with the I & B minister Arun Jaitley over the issue. But the situation seems to be at stalemate as neither the ministry, nor the student board has reached a compromise.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher recently spoke to reporters saying that it's essential that world reputed institutions are handled by people who can maintain that and Chauhan may not be apt for the position.

Many other personalities have taken the same stance and it remains to be seen how the government would take to the criticism.
