Based on the evacuation of around 1,70,000 Indians during the invasion of Kuwait by Saddam Hussein in the year 1990, 'Airlift' had a long- lasting impact on viewers. Akshay played Ranjit Katyal, a businessman who sought to help his fellow citizens. His character was based on Mathunny Mathews, the real hero who helped in the evacuation of 1990. Based on the actual RAW operation 'Baby', the movie had Akshay in the lead role of agent Ajay who captures a traitor and demands information from him regarding the terror attack plans in India. Throughout the movie, we are kept on the edge of our seats and the movie evokes a lot of thrill and excitement as to what would happen next. Akshay's convincing performance, perfect action sequences and time-to-time quirky jokes were like a cherry on top for the movie.

Holiday- A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (2014)

This is perhaps one of the most intense roles played by Akshay- that of a soldier and Defence Intelligence Agency captain Virat Bakshi, who is always at work. The movie had a fantastic storyline which showed how thankful we must be to all the soldiers who work day and night, to keep us safe.

No one can ever forget Hera Pheri's Raju who, like his two other friends, faces a shortage of money. What happens next is exactly what the movie's title suggests- Hera Pheri. The ultimate comedy thriller is one such piece where Akshay's performance was simply mind-blowing.
