Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor breathes his last at 79

Shashi Kapoor's death has left the industry people and fans in a state of shock.

New Delhi: Shashi Kapoor, veteran Bollywood superstar, passed away on Monday evening. He was 79. The thespian's death has left the industry people and fans in a state of shock.

Actor Mohit Marwah took to Twitter and shared the unfortunate news. He wrote: “My favourite shashi kapoor rests in peace today will be remembered always.”

According to PTI, Shashi Kapoor was admitted to Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital where he breathed his last. The legendary star was under constant medical supervision and was battling health-related issues.

Randhir Kapoor, son of veteran actor Raj Kapoor, confirmed the news. "Yes he has passed away. He had kidney problem since several years. He was on dialysis for several years," Randhir Kapoor told PTI. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning, he said.

"Shashi Kapoor expired at 5:20 pm on December 4 at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai," Dr Ram Narain from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital told PTI.

Several Bollywood celebs thronged Twitter to express their shock and extend condolences to the Kapoor family in this hour of grief. 

The Kapoor senior featured in as many as 148 films in his illustrious career.
