Vaughan asks Warne to take `blinkers off` following `negative and boring Cook` criticism

London: Former England captain Michael Vaughan has slammed Australian spin legend Shane Warne for criticising current England skipper Alastair Cook ahead of the upcoming winter series in Australia.

Warne had hit out at Cook`s `negative and boring` style of leadership and insisted that it could lead to England losing the upcoming Ashes series.

However, the Mirror reports that Vaughan, who captained England to Ashes victory in 2005, defended Cook on Twitter and slammed Warne, asking him to take his `blinkers` off and said that it is not possible for Michael Clarke to be the best captain in the world when his team does not win cricket matches.

Suggesting that there may be a hint of bias in Warne`s views, Vaughan also said that as compared to Clarke, Cook is a better captain as he gets the culture right `behind the scenes`, unlike Clarke, who, Vaughan hinted, is unable to create a harmonious atmosphere within the Australian dressing room.

But Warne hit back at Vaughan and defended Clarke, saying that if a world XI was picked today, Clarke would be the obvious choice for captain as he a very good tactician.
