Broad doubtful for Bangla as England`s cup of woes continues
Chittagong: England`s injury woes compounded on Tuesday with pacer Stuart Broad becoming doubtful for the World Cup match against Bangladesh on Friday due to a side strain he sustained during the narrow win over South Africa.
Already without star batsman Kevin Pietersen, who has been ruled out due to a hernia problem, the English could lose Broad as well.
The pacer, who missed the tied match against India due to illness, came back well against South Africa on Sunday, picking up a career-best 4-15 to guide England to a narrow six-run win.
The English team management is now waiting for results of the scans conducted this morning to know the severity of the injury.
"The results we will know later this afternoon and obviously he is in doubt for Friday`s match," England and Wales Cricket Board spokesman James Avery said.
"Pending further assessments of scans we will also know what the outlook is like for the rest of the tournament."
Ajmal Shahzad could be brought into the team in case Broad does not recover in time.
