Hampshire sign Afridi for Twenty20 campaign

London: Hampshire have signed Pakistan`s limited overs captain Shahid Afridi for their Friends Provident t20 campaign.

The 30-year-old all-rounder will become Hampshire`s second overseas player for the tournament, alongside South African spinner Imran Tahir, the BBC reports.

"Having played at the Rose Bowl for Pakistan, I know it`s becoming one of the best places to watch cricket," Afridi told the club website.

He added, "I hope very much to play a big part in the club`s success in 2011."

Hampshire manager Giles White said:"Shahid is a wonderful all-round cricketer and will be a real asset to our club over what should be an incredibly exciting summer at the Rose Bowl."

Hampshire`s FP t20 campaign starts on 8 April when they take on Durham at the Rose Bowl.
